Cheyenne, Wyoming school launches parental outreach program

Though the school day was long over, some parents and staff at one Laramie County School District 1 elementary school returned on a Tuesday evening for a class of their own.

Pioneer Park Elementary staff started a new parental outreach program as part of a three-year, $749,000 state grant. The class is one part of the new program.

The class offers parents a chance to read "A Framework for Understanding Poverty" by Ruby K. Payne and discuss it with other parents and school staff, Principal April Gates said.
