The Governor’s Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) is accepting nominations for the 2011 Montana Tourism Awards. Nominations for Tourism Person of the Year, Tourism Community of the Year, Tourism Event of the Year and Tourism Partnership of the Year will be accepted.

"Montana is fortunate to have a tremendous product to entice travelers, but it’s the innovative and committed people within the industry that ensure tourism is a strong and significant contributor to Montana’s economic vitality," said Governor Brian Schweitzer.

Commerce Director Dore Schwinden encourages the submittal of nominations to formally recognize those that work diligently on behalf of Montana’s tourism industry.

"We are proud of our hardworking Montanans. With over 25,000 Montana jobs supported through tourism, these awards help recognize the individuals, events, communities and partnerships behind the efforts to promote and develop Montana’s tourism opportunities which benefit us all," said Schwinden.

The award winners will be announced at the 37th Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Recreation scheduled for March 28-29, 2011, at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel in Helena, Montana.

Nomination forms are available from the Department of Commerce – Montana Office of Tourism by calling Barb Sanem at 406-841-2769 or e-mail [email protected].
