Doctors Can Play Key Role in Preparing Children for School

Debates over school readiness typically focus on school, for obvious reasons, but two new research studies show pediatricians can play a key role in getting children ready for the classroom, Education Week reports.

The story points out children need to go to the doctor for mandatory vaccines, which makes pediatricians obvious school readiness allies. The story explores studies that relied on the Reach Out and Read program, which is also a key part of Thrive by Five Washington’s Culture of Literacy initiative, to reach out to families.
