The careers of tomorrow – Colleges, workplaces adapt to changing times

Scott Schreiner goes to work at 6 a.m., puts in a half day, then heads to Front Range Community College for classes until 5.

Then it’s home, a bite to eat and homework before hitting the sack and doing it all over again the next day.

There’s nothing unusual about working while going to school – students do it all the time, especially in this economy.

But when Schreiner graduates in May, he’ll be among the lucky ones who have a job to go to the next morning.

Schreiner is part of Front Range Community College’s first class of graduates to be certified as clean energy technicians, a program developed in conjunction with Woodward, an international company headquartered in Fort Collins, to prime the pipeline of workers for the new energy economy.
