NorthWestern Energy Reminds Customers to Remove Snow and Ice from Meters and Exhaust Vents
December 23, 2010 /
NorthWestern Energy customers who heat their homes with natural gas or other fuel burning appliances should make sure their exhaust vents are cleared from blowing and drifting snow. Blocked appliance vents could result in a loss of heat or buildup of deadly carbon monoxide in the structure.
Customers are also strongly encouraged to clear the snow away from natural gas meters. This will help prevent your natural gas regulator from freezing over, which would interrupt the normal flow of natural gas into your home. It will also make it easier for our employees to read your meter or shut off your natural gas service in case of an emergency.
