Montana Educators No fans of ‘Superman’ http://matr.net/article-41652.html

We can say that "Waiting for Superman" doesn’t reflect what’s happening in Montana and feel great about it but the fact is that the U.S. ranks in the bottom quartile of developed countries in education quality and success. So even if Montana is near the top in education rankings in the U.S., we’re still at the bottom of the list globally.

We’re deluding ourselves if we feel we’re doing the best we can for our future leaders. We’re really short changing them by not looking at those more successful countries and adopting the programs and processes that can ensure that our kids will be able to keep up with a rapidly changing global economy.

I hope we’ll be more open to a critical examination of everything we do in our education system which should begin before the child is born and only end when we die. Nothing should be "we’re doing O.K." when we’re so far behind the curve.

We owe it to our children and to our future.
