Transmission-line construction causing lineman shortage in North America

It’s a problem any owner of a once-new home can understand. For the first couple of decades it needs little or no maintenance or repair. Then, suddenly, everything seems to need fixing all at once.

Since most components of North America’s power grid were put in place at more or less the same time — the late 1950s, the ’60s and the early ’70s — it’s demanding more or less simultaneous attention now.
