Tax Foundation Ranks Montana 6th Best Business Tax Climate

The Tax Foundation has released their state business tax climate index ranking Montana 6th best after moving up from 8th in 2006.

Montana is one of only a few states with money in the bank. "I’ve worked hard to run the state like a business and keep our finances sound. We are going to have to tighten our belts and continue to challenge every expense. I am committed to living within our means. Unlike 48 other states, we are not going to have to raise taxes to pay our bills," said Schweitzer.

The Governor also noted that all three bond rating agencies recently affirmed Montana’s double ‘A’ bond ratings and their ‘stable’ outlook.

According to The Tax Foundation, Montana’s index score improved from 6.32 in FY2010 to 6.39 in FY2011.
