Out-of-state developer shelves Bozeman, Montana project after demolishing century-old brewery

"There will be an empty lot there where one of the city’s most historic buildings used to stand, and for no good reason," said Mark Hufstetler, chairman of the city’s Historic Preservation Advisory Board.

After demolishing most of the 115-year-old Lehrkind Brewery to make way for condominiums and offices, a Washington, D.C., development company has announced it has no plans to complete the new structure.

Instead, Scala Properties LLC wants permission to finish tearing down the brewery and level the site on Wallace Avenue between Aspen and Tamarack streets.
