At Facebook, Doerr announces $250 million fund (sFund) for social entrepreneurs
October 21, 2010 /
Flanked by some of the world’s leading social media entrepreneurs, prominent venture capitalist John Doerr on Thursday launched a $250 million investment fund to find and bankroll what he said would be the next wave of social entrepreneurs.
"Think of it as a quarter-billion-dollar party," Doerr said in an announcement at Facebook in Palo Alto, where he was flanked by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos and Zynga CEO Mark Pincus. The new fund, whose investors include those companies along with Comcast, will be dubbed the "sFund."
