Learn to work safe, Montana

The haunting message is intentional. With cameras panning over an unconscious man in an intensive care hospital bed, another man’s voice talks about how "Jim," was a stickler for safety at work, always using the right equipment and following the rules, always doing everything the way he should.

"Problem is, I didn’t," says the man, a co-worker waiting in the hall.

"Workplace safety. It isn’t just something you do for yourself," said another voice.

That’s the message WorkSafeMT, a private/public partnership, is working to spread across the state with its latest public service campaign.

"Even though we’ve seen a decline in workplace injuries in Montana, we’ve bounced up to number one in the nation in that category," said Carl Kochman, chairman of the WorkSafeMT http://www.worksafemt.com/ foundation board. "Other states are decreasing their workplace injuries at a faster rate than Montana."
