The big picture for small businesses in Montana

Amidst the day-to-day grind of keeping a small business afloat, it can be easy for owners to become so focused on details that they miss out on the bigger picture. But a pair of Downtown Helena business owners recently had opportunities to travel thousands of miles to tell their stories, and each found inspiration and rejuvination along the way.

In late June, Alex “Papu” Rincon, the 29-year-old owner of the clothing/lifestyle store FourOSix on Last Chance Gulch, traveled to Venezuela with childhood friend Dave Morin to a conference in Caracas on marketing, technology and the future of social media.

And last month, Ernesto Casillas, the 41-year-old owner of Chilangos in the Union Market building, traveled to Washington, D.C., with a couple of other business owners from the state to meet with Montana’s Congressional delegation to discuss health care and a number of other issues confronting small business owners in Montana.
