Oregon venture capital surged in first half of 2010

Oregon companies attracted $106 million in venture capital during the first half of the 2010, the biggest take in four years, according to data due out tomorrow morning from the National Venture Capital Association and Thomson Reuters.

The total reflects, in part, a broader recovery in the broader VC industry. Nationwide, venture capitalists invested $11.4 billion in U.S. companies during the first six months of 2010, up 49 percent from the same period of ’09.
