SeaCast casting foundry opens its doors in Butte, Montana

The SeaCast http://www.seacast.com/ casting foundry opened its doors Thursday, inviting local people to see how the factory works before it ramps to full production.

Located in the Butte-Silver Bow Tax-Increment Finance Industrial District, southwest of town, the titanium and investment castings facility accommodated visitors throughout its spacious, well-lit, 63,000-square-foot building.

"This is fantastic," said Ty Ueland, SeaCast’s director of business development. "There aren’t many foundries like this in the world." Bert Robins, the company’s vice president and a Butte native, said that their ability to make custom titanium parts could put this foundry on the map. It’s a difficult process, however, one that has to be done in a vacuum via remote control due to the element’s appetite for oxygen.
