Top twelve finalist to compete at Governor’s State-Wide Entrepreneurs Conference

Twelve finalists in the seventh annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest http://www.govsbizplancontest.com/ will compete for the contest’s top cash and in-kind prizes next Tuesday during the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference http://www.wisconsintechnologycouncil.com/events/ent_conf/ at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

The contest began in late January with 285 entries from about 100 communities. It is a six-month process that includes mentoring and comments from judges on selected plans. It also leads to valuable public and media exposure. In the past, finalists have raised a reported $15 million in private equity, such as angel and venture capital.

The contestants will each give a presentation on Tuesday afternoon followed by an evening reception. About $200,000 in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded to those contestants and 13 other finalists. Winners will be announced at Wednesday’s conference luncheon featuring Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Aaron Olver.
