Southern Idaho counties get on federal contract preferred list

Twin Falls, Jerome, Lincoln and Blaine counties have been added to a federal contract preference list that will help employers do business with the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday approved Idaho Labor Department’s request to dramatically expand areas of the state where employers receive preference when they bid on federal contracts.

Officials with the state labor department said rising unemployment in 21 counties across the state made them eligible candidates for the preference list.
