Ravalli County Economic Development Authority awards first micro loan to Florence, Montana based BVS

David Wick and his Florence-based company BVS http://www.bvs-inc.us/ received a five-year loan made available in a program begun in December by the Ravalli County Board of Commissioners.

Wick refused to say how much money he had received or what it would be used for other than "business development and infrastructure."

In all the county made $100,000 available to emerging businesses. The money came from an unusual boost to the federal Payment in Lieu of Taxes annual allocation. Loans were to be between $2,000 and $10,000 – a critical amount for emerging businesses who are unlikely to qualify for traditional loans and whose owners might resort to credit cards to get off the ground.
