State business officer, Evan Barrett talks economics in Havre, Montana

Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s chief business officer http://business.mt.gov/aboutus.asp was in Havre Tuesday to talk about the state of the economy of the state and to answer questions, touting the achievements of Schweitzer and Bear Paw Development Corp. http://www.bearpaw.org/ in the process.

Evan Barrett met with local leaders at Bear Paw’s office Tuesday morning, starting the meeting with a PowerPoint presentation on the state of the economy and initiatives the state government is pursuing.

In his opening, Barrett said the region is fortunate to have as well-established and successful an economic development entity as Bear Paw. “There is no question that we look at Bear Paw as one of the models, the way that economic development is supposed to be done on the local level,” he said.
