Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce hopes raise funds to send Huls Dairy to Washington to accept U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business Award Recognition

After putting Huls Dairy http://www.hulsdairy.com/ in the running for a U.S. Chamber of Commerce award, and seeing the innovative Corvallis dairy win, the folks in the Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce http://www.bitterrootvalleychamber.com/ hope to take the next step and send the Huls to Washington, D.C. to collect their honor.

Huls Dairy, home to the only methane digester in the state, was named this spring as one of 75 winners of the national chamber’s Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. It was the only business selected from Montana.

Theresa Manzella, a member of the Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce agribusiness committee, said the chamber wants to see the Huls make it to the awards ceremony.

To jumpstart fundraising, Manzella said they have arranged to offer tours of Huls Dairy, where people can learn how the digester works to reduce the farm’s greenhouse gas emissions, generate electricity, as well as turn cow manure into a marketable solid and liquid fertilizer.

People wishing to help the Huls can make an online donation at the chamber’s Web site: http://www.bvchamber.com (click on the banner ad at the upper right to donate).

Those interested in joining a tour of Huls Dairy should call the chamber at 406-363-2400.
