Forest Service’s Missoula Technology and Development Center builds the "largest, grid-tied solar electrical system in Montana" thanks to Oasis Montana

On a nice sunny day the electrical meter at the Forest Service’s Missoula Technology and Development Center almost spins to a stop.

All the computers, lights and other electrical gizmos operating inside the research facility are now taking a good long drink of AC produced by an array of 223 recently installed solar panels.

"This system is, at present, the largest, grid-tied solar electrical system in Montana," said Chris Daum, the owner of Oasis Montana http://www.oasismontana.com/.

The small Stevensville renewable energy firm was awarded the project to outfit the center with solar power last June. Working with its installer, Mark Dickson of Simple Power LLC, the solar panel array came online just a few weeks ago.
