Call for proposals – forest product demonstration projects related to small diameter & low valued woods.

Request for Proposals (RFP)?The USDA Forest Service, Forest Products
Laboratory, is requesting proposals for forest products demonstration
projects related to using small-diameter and low-valued hardwoods and
softwoods. These funds are targeted to help communities, entrepreneurs, and
others turn this material into marketable forest products. These projects
may be in conjunction with hazardous fuel reduction projects or could use
material already removed.

A total of $1 million is available for granting under this program, with
individual grants not to exceed $50,000. Funding may be awarded for five
major program goals:
1. Providing technical assistance for processing and manufacturing
2. Helping local enterprises or communities develop prototypes of
products
3. Developing demonstration projects showcasing innovative uses
4. Conducting economic feasibility assessments of proposed products
5. Evaluating markets and/or marketing
