Green and clean: Innovators hope to build plant in Montana to turn trees, shoes into fuel. Bioroot Energy

Jay Toups funneled a pale green fuel into a Missoulian reporter’s gasoline tank.

The patented blend, E4 Envirolene, is new, and the driver of the Volkswagen station wagon planned to test it on the road from Darby to Missoula. Toups, with Bioroot Energy http://www.biorootenergy.com/ , has grand plans for the fuel.

Bioroot Energy and partner Standard Alcohol Company of America aim to build a plant in western Montana that produces E4 – and revolutionize the way people think about energy, the environment and the economy.

“This is our chance to prove sustainability in our own backyards with resources that we have that nobody wants,” Toups said.
