Boulder Valley schools hold first-ever ‘Elementary College Nights’ School district: ‘The earlier the better’

Boulder Valley School District counselors, administrators and financial experts will be giving college-planning advice to a much younger crowd than usual this spring.

Five "Elementary College Nights" are scheduled in April and May for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their families. The events will include advice on what classes students should take as they move into middle and high school, when they should take them, how to save money for college and how to develop good studying skills.

"Lots of people don’t know that the courses they sign up for while in elementary and middle school will impact their chances of getting a scholarship and getting into schools," said Andre Lanier, executive director for institutional equity at Boulder Valley.
