Missoula-based Aqua Blue pool company looks at Darby for plant

A pool and spa company is proposing a new manufacturing and distribution center for the Darby area.

Missoula-based Aqua Blue http://www.aquabluepoolandspa.com/ is seeking about $500,000 in federal funds to help buy the 20-acre former Stoltze Mill site just south of town.

Business plans call for up to $3.9 million to be used in the creation of a center for the manufacture, assembly, sale and shipping of pools in what could grow into a franchised business. The site could also be home to a pool and spa inspection certification training course. Currently no such licensing plan exists in Montana, and company officials want to work with the state to create one.
