California residents keep moving into the Bitterroot Valley of Montana

Maggie Manning got a pleasant surprise when she looked at her end-of-year sales figures.

Californians were still coming to the Bitterroot.

Not everyone is happy to see transplants from the Golden State, but to Manning, whose business is to send welcome packets to new arrivals, the fact that most out-of-state transplants to Ravalli County were Californians meant that there was still hope for real estate economy.

“That amazed me,” Manning said. “I was totally blown away. Most of the people I was talking to were from Nevada, Washington and Oregon and then all of the sudden when we did the year-end review we saw that number of people coming here from California, and that made me hopeful that the economy is doing better.”
