If schools can’t get money from the education department, they can always look toward a nuclear-energy facility.
The Idaho National Laboratory http://www.inl.gov has announced the availability of grant applications to advance instruction in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs.
The grants aren’t huge — INL calls them “mini grants” — but they’re helpful. One will provide $2,000 to fund technology or lab equipment, material for special projects, and professional development. Statewide, $60,000 from the grant is available. Another, labeled “The INL Extreme Classroom Makeover,” will award $10,000 to two schools in an effort to “transform a classroom into a 21st century STEM learning environment.”
