Great Falls, Montana – Creating community brand requires creativity, attention to detail

Great Falls took the first step toward creating a community brand Wednesday with a workshop aimed at generating interest in undertaking a branding process.

Consultant Bill Baker of Total Destination Management and the author of "Destination Branding for Small Cities," told attendees what a brand is and how cities can use it to compete, whether in attracting tourists or economic development.

Brands can help small cities stand out, Baker said, noting there are about 22,000 incorporated cities in the United States.
