BEAR program helps Montana businesses survive

To some people, economic development means traveling to far-flung places and luring a factory, shopping mall or call center to your town, often with incentives such as cash or tax breaks.
Sure, business recruitment is important. But it’s only part of a comprehensive plan for developing a stronger business community says Brian Edwards, an economic development specialist for the Big Sky Economic Development Authority.
Edwards runs the Business Expansion and Retention program for Big Sky EDA, Yellowstone County’s economic development agency.
