Free Dragon app for iPhone, iPod Touch nails dictation

"Memo to self: tell editors that my column this week is on dictation software for smart phones."

I barked this reminder into an iPhone using the Dragon Dictation app from Nuance Communications. Dragon accurately captured each and every word I’d spoken and got the colon right, too. From within the application, I was then able to copy the captured words in a text message or e-mail, or onto a clipboard from which I could paste it into another application.
