Lack of investment funding hinders job growth in Idaho – Gov. urged to promote investor tax credits

Idaho is in danger of shorting the potential of many small businesses, or worse, seeing them move out of state if it can’t find ways for them to get loans outside of traditional banks.

At a time when Idaho is scrounging for every job it can get, the state is short of sources of cash and credit to help start and grow small businesses that would put people back to work.

Business investor groups on Tuesday urged Gov. Butch Otter to find ways to stimulate more private equity funds or other sources of money to help small and medium-size companies that cannot get bank loans.

They spoke at a financial summit Otter called to spur lending in the face of tight credit in recession. Investors and bankers were among the participants.
