Helena, Montana firms, Western Computer Services and American Chemet awarded $2.4MM and $800K respectively for research and development activities

A pair of Helena area firms stand to benefit from new government contracts after the Senate on Saturday approved the Defense Appropriations Act.

According to a press release jointly issued by the offices of Sen. Max Baucus and Sen. Jon Tester, the spending bill includes $2.4 million for Western Computer Services (no website found) in Helena to develop a training simulator that can simulate any of the military’s transport vehicles currently in service.

American Chemet http://www.chemet.com/ , the East Helena company is tasked with developing a copper composite that won’t easily corrode, to be used by the U.S. Navy in salt water, according to the press release.
