Montana school continues to fight AIM requirements

Sidney school officials say more school districts are becoming concerned about the new requirements of the Achievement in Montana (AIM) program conducted by the Montana Office of Public Instruction.

The program streamlines the reporting of student-related data from school districts to OPI, including enrollment, demographic data, eligibility for state and federal education programs, registration for the statewide assessments, and special education planning and reporting. But now the agency demands additional information such as the student’s name and disciplinary matters.

Sidney had been one of the few school districts in Montana that was refusing to provide the required data.

“We’ve gained a lot of momentum in the past six weeks,” Sidney Superintendent of Schools Daniel Farr said during a committee meeting Tuesday.
