American Prairie Foundation – Great Things To Come In 2010.

Dear Friend of American Prairie Foundation,

Thanks to the steadfast support we receive from our donors, 2009 was
a strong year at APF.

American Prairie Reserve grew to 121,000 acres of deeded and leased
public land when we completed our 11th and largest acquisition in
November.
The bison herd topped the 100 mark.
We hosted two international groups of visitors on the Reserve.

One of the most gratifying moments occurred when our bison moved to a
14,000-acre grassland–the first time they’ve grazed on public land
in this area since they were extirpated in the late 1800s. Our
friends from the Fort Belknap reservation joined us for this historic
occasion. APF National Council member and White Clay George Horse
Capture, Jr gave a moving speech that invoked the memory of the
Native American ghost dancers.

"They wanted them back–they tried to dance the buffalo back…I
think their prayers are being answered because again the buffalo are
back to grandmother earth, here in this part of the country."

2010 will bring more exciting changes for APF. Here are some of the
things we’re anticipating:

The first public campground will open on the Reserve.

The bison herd will double to approximately 200.

The National Geographic special, American Serengeti, will expose
millions more to our efforts.

I’ve been watching Ken Burns’ spectacular National Parks series. I’m
struck by the stories of the dedicated individuals who gave their
resources, talents and time to protect these national treasures for
future generations. I believe that the creation of American Prairie
Reserve will leave a similar legacy.

Donors have moved American Prairie Reserve from the bold dream it was
in 2001 to a concrete reality, steadily progressing toward the
ultimate goal. Please consider a

year-end gift to help us continue assembling this vital prairie
habitat.

Best Wishes for a wonderful holiday,
