Area alum, Jon Boyle, wins top science award

It’s been a banner year for Jon Boyle, a University of Pittsburgh assistant professor studying the relationship between disease-causing microorganisms and their hosts.

During the summer, the former Great Falls resident was named a 2009 Pew Scholar in Biomedical Sciences by the Pew Charitable Trust. That’s an honor he shared with 16 other scientists, including two Nobel laureates and other top researchers across the United States. And it also gained him $240,000 over the next four years to support his research.

Boyle called Great Falls High "just a great school" that prepared him for higher education.
