To be eligible for the $1,000 scholarship, applicants must be nominated by a member of the National
Federation of Independent Business. Applicants will be judged not only by their academic record and
extracurricular activities, but also by their answers to questions about their entrepreneurial efforts and the
importance of free enterprise.

"Many students have a dream of owning and operating their own business," says Susan Ridge, executive
director of the NFIB Education Foundation. "We want to reward that entrepreneurial spirit and encourage
them to believe in their dreams and themselves."

Applications for the first awards will be available this fall.
