The School of Tech

Idaho is working to leverage its stimulus money for education technology to do more than just plunk computers into classrooms.

Earlier this year, Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter and the state legislature apportioned $2,995,000 in discretionary ARRA funds to create the Idaho Education Network http://adm.idaho.gov/ien/ . In its first phase, the IEN will connect all Idaho high schools to a high-speed, broadband network and will outfit each school with a video-teleconferencing system to support two-way, interactive learning. The first phase is expected to be completed within three years. Completing the first phase of IEN will bring "game-changing" capabilities to the entire education experience in Idaho and will positively impact communities as well. It’s truly an investment in our future.
