Incoming President Waded Cruzado-Salas is Already Blazing New Trails at MSU

A native of Puerto Rico, Cruzado will be the first woman and first minority to lead either of Montana’s two major universities. Prior to this move, her entire professional career was spent in the Sun Belt – at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, her undergraduate alma mater, and at New Mexico State.

"Knowing that Montana State http://www.montana.edu/ was a land grant university, that it was a research institution and a top-tier university made it a very attractive proposition," Cruzado said this week in a telephone interview from Las Cruces, N.M. "I understand the land grant mission, I have devoted my life to it and I feel passionate about it and its importance to the state."
