Business magazine, McKinsey Quarterly, interviews Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer on leadership, management and communication style

Keep some grain in the bin for next year. Decide on an overarching goal or two as a leader and don’t get diverted by less important matters. Hire good people and turn them loose. Have a staff that can talk you off the ledge at times.

These, Gov. Brian Schweitzer http://governor.mt.gov/ told a reporter for a national business journal Monday, are some of the tips he’s picked up and lessons he’s learned along the way in business and government.

Schweitzer was interviewed on his leadership, management and communication style by Matt Miller for McKinsey Quarterly http://www.mckinseyquarterly.com/home.aspx , the business journal of McKinsey & Company. Past interview subjects included former Vice President Al Gore and Delos "Toby" Cosgrove, chief executive officer of the Cleveland Clinic. The interview also was videotaped and will be available later on its Web site.
