Phyllis J. Washington Education Center dedication a big event at University of Montana

Thursday evening’s grand opening of the Phyllis J. Washington Education Center on the University of Montana http://www.soe.umt.edu/newbuild/default.html campus was more than a building dedication – it was an event of grandiose proportions.

Music by the UM Islanders Steel Drum Band greeted 500 guests as they entered the new 30,000-square-foot addition to the Education Building. UM students performed background music and served champagne and hors d’oeuvres as guests shifted through the many rooms to admire the center’s state-of-the-art technology.

UM President George Dennison, dressed in a tuxedo, welcomed dignitaries and guests and thanked hundreds of donors who gave to the $14 million project. Rooms in the new center were named after major benefactors.
