Higher ed turns more and more to nontenured instructors

It’s a topic everyone in higher education is talking about.

A trend toward a declining proportion of tenured and tenure-track faculty on college and university campuses across the country and a rising percentage of nontenured positions is discussed at meetings of every higher education organization, said Joe Fedock, provost at Montana State University in Bozeman.

Although campuses have several categories of staff members who teach, generally the issue involves the divide between tenured faculty and those on track to become tenured on one side and faculty who hold nontenured jobs on the other.
