Billings Clinic gets 6 doctors from the WWAMI program to promote rural doctor placements
July 30, 2009 /
For a handful of new hires at Billings Clinic, going to work is like going to a class reunion.
Six of the 25 physicians hired this summer by the hospital are graduates of WWAMI http://www.montana.edu/wwwwami/ , a medical training program for rural students from Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.
"It’s the largest number we’ve ever had in one year," said Dr. Mark Rumans, Billings Clinic’s physician in chief. "Typically we’ve had one or two each year. Occasionally, we’d miss a year."
