The Berkeley Pit in Butte, Montana may be the most polluted place in the country. Top tourist attraction gets upgrade

The Berkeley Pit may be the most polluted place in the country, but the area around it is now clean and green.

Chamber of Commerce President Marko Lucich said one of his priorities in the last five years has been to improve the facilities at the Berkeley Pit Viewing Stand.

"This is one of — if not our top — tourist attraction in Butte," said Lucich. "This is a lot of people’s first stop." It was Lucich’s goal to make sure it wasn’t their last.
