Bridger alternative program panel brainstorms how to rescue high school dropouts

The Bridger alternative program is a “life raft” for Bozeman High School students in danger of not graduating, and while it focuses mainly on juniors and seniors, maybe it should be expanded to help more sophomores and freshmen at risk of dropping out.

That was just one of the ideas floated Tuesday during a brainstorming session by 21 educators, parents and students on a task force that’s considering Bridger’s future.

Mike Ruyle, the assistant principal recently put in charge of Bridger, said he’d like to see it become “the best alternative program in the state.”
