The agreement, titled the Wingspread Tri-State
Regional Accord, represents the social, economic, and environmental
interdependence of the region surrounding Lake Michigan.

The first activities of the new planning group are to develop a tri-state regional
web site, undertake specific regional economic development projects, and
identify common coastal management issues concerning the Lake Michigan
shoreline. In addition, the planning agencies also intend to foster new
partnerships between state and federal agencies to achieve more integrated
planning and funding.
