Bresnan looks to expand to wideband

When Bresnan Communications http://www.bresnan.com/ bought what was formerly the AT&T cable business in Montana in April 2003, the company promised significant upgrades to the system.

Since then, the company has invested $1.3 billion in it, including the purchase price. The company’s footprint includes communities in Montana, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.

"The philosophy of our company is that the customers in the communities we serve should have access to the full array of cable products available to people in larger cities," said Steve Brookstein, chief executive officer of Bresnan.

Today Bresnan offers a variety of cable television packages, high speed Internet packages, and digital phone service with unlimited local and long distance service.

And Bresnan is ready to offer the next level of Internet service — wideband.

Called Docsis 3.0, the technology allows speeds of up to 100 mbps — which can allow a user to download the entire set of Britannica Encyclopedias, with 18,000 color photos, in six minutes.
