Farmers to get compensation from Missoula-based fuel company, Sustainable Systems

State agriculture officials liquidating a renewable fuel company’s assets say they’ll come close to raising the $1.2 million owed seed farmers.

So far, safflower oil, meal, and seed at the shuttered Montola oilseed crushing plant in Culbertson has all been sold. Officials are taking inventory on other items.

The plant was owned by for Missoula-based Sustainable Systems. The company failed to pay farmers for seed delivered last fall.
