Montana Department of Commerce to reconsider Missoula Exposition Center grant to help pay for $50,000 feasibility study. Center would help promote Missoula

Planning for an exposition center in Missoula is revving up, and the coalition of business leaders promoting the idea got good news Thursday.

The group wants to build a multipurpose year-round regional facility somewhere in Missoula, if the study concludes the community supports the idea.

Word came from the Montana Department of Commerce that an application for a $25,000 grant to help fund a $50,000 feasibility study of the center will be reconsidered. The application was denied earlier this month.

“That’s wonderful news to hear,” said John Riley, co-chairman of the Montana Exposition Center executive board. “We’re very pleased that they will reconsider it. I think our community leaders feel this is certainly a worthwhile process to explore and see what the feasibility is.”

Exposition center would help promote Missoula

The goal is to build a facility for the entire community, providing a venue for all ages to enjoy sports and entertainment while providing a new revenue stream to our local economy. If you have suggestions or want to be involved in the process as it unfolds, please do not hesitate to contact any member on the executive board. An exposition center can be another reason why visitors will want to come to Missoula and experience the last best place.
