Boise State MBA team wins at Benchmark Capital Challenge Business Plan Competition

Boise State MBA team wins at the 2009 Global Moot Corp Business Plan Competition beating teams from Germany, France and China. Heat 2 Optimize (H2O), the Boise State MBA team competing in the 2009 Global Moot Corp Business Plan Competition, bested teams from Germany, France and China. The team, led by David Rush (MBA candidate Boise State, B.S. MIT) won the Benchmark Capital Challenge. To develop Heat 2 Optimize, David Rush had worked with a local inventor to develop the innovative smart grid energy saving electric water heater that allows utility companies to shift electricity consumption to off-peak periods.

David’s team came in 3rd in the preliminary round of the 2009 Global Moot Corp Business Plan Competition losing out to a team that was a finalist in the competition. The Global Champion of the competition was Novophage Therapeutics, a team from Boston University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that provides a novel approach to combat antibiotics-resistant infections by combining engineering bacteriophages with antibiotics. The Novophage team was made of an MD/PhD., a PhD and an MBA and took home $135,000 in prizes.
