Montana Career Opportunity – VISTA – City Club Missoula

Help encourage community-wide dialogue, be a force in bringing youth input to the table, and help to foster a healthy community through constructive public forums!

City Club Missoula http://www.cityclubmissoula.org is a civic organization that facilitates public forums on topics of regional and local importance. We’re looking for someone as excited about community dialogue as we are!

City Club Missoula forums are open to everyone, and we’re looking to engage more citizens with more diverse backgrounds to weigh in on some of today’s most pressing issues. In the coming months, City Club Missoula will welcome area high school students to our tables to engage our up and coming leaders in conversation about their community. The organization needs assistance in administering and evaluating the youth experience as well as other initiatives of City Club Missoula.

Our organization is growing, and in the coming months, the Board of Trustees and members of City Club Missoula will engage in a strategic planning process to help vision for the future. We are looking for a team player able to effectively communicate, perform research on existing City Clubs in comparable areas, and willing to participate in this exciting opportunity for City Club Missoula!

Daily responsibilities of the VISTA will include ongoing communication with City Club Missoula and community members using tools such as email lists and the City Club Missoula website. The VISTA will perform research on existing City Clubs in comparable cities and present useful information to the City Club Missoula Board of Trustees. This information will be used in a strategic planning process, in which the VISTA will participate and record.

The VISTA will be responsible for the assisted administration and evaluation of the City Club Missoula Youth Project, which will include communications with local high school administrators, teachers and students. The VISTA will be asked to research sustainable funding opportunities for this and other programs.

This position holds a multitude of opportunities including intimate community involvement, marketing experience, web site maintenance and training, grant writing experience, project management, and youth development.

Missoula is a beautiful mountain community nestled in Western Montana. It is home to The University of Montana, and boasts a lively downtown district, a multitude of public parks and recreation areas, and a host of culturally enhancing activites. Missoula is a very bike and pedestrian friendly city, with on-street bike lanes and several miles of designated bike trails. Recreation opportunities in and around Missoula are endless, and include camping, fishing, hiking, and bike riding, in addition to the multiple museums, theatres, events centers, restaurants and University related activities.
