Montana Tech faculty protests researcher’s exclusion from job

A group of Montana Tech faculty and staff members is protesting the passing over of a longtime researcher for a permanent job despite her strong resume.

More than 20 Tech employees signed a letter recently criticizing school officials within the chemistry department for excluding Andrea Stierle from the short list for a tenure track assistant professor position. The letter said although they weren’t on the committee, Stierle’s strong academic and teaching record and loyalty to Tech make it "incomprehensible" that the committee won’t interview her.
